„Navigating Stress“ by Mirte van der Nat

„A toolkit that encourages people to share and analyse the stress they experience by externalising personal struggles as features in a landscape.“

Mirte van der Nat combined the knowledge of mental healthcare, education, gamification and design to help young adults to increase their knowledge and self-reflection of stress in her graduate project „Navigating Stress“.

Navigating Stress is a conversation toolkit that enables people to share and analyse their personal struggles. Participants are invited to build their own stress landscape with landmarks like „the lake of expectations“ and „the city of never-ending tasks“. Additional challenge cards support the conversation. By offering the words and images to express all kinds of anxieties, the kit opens up discussion. „Players“ feel free to go on an exploratory journey and search for routes to another state of mind. The map includes both negative and positive aspects of stress, presenting valuable information about and a holistic view of a common human condition.
